"Kliewer’s debut is an atmospheric nightmare in all the best ways. This is recommended for fans of intricately plotted psychological novels, such as those by Stephen King, Ruth Ware, and Sarah Pinborough."

The Caretaker

"I love this author!!! And I love his writing. So hard to put this book down and at the same time I hesitate to turn the page to find out what's next."

The Caretaker

"Love this author and his writing! He has always been so creative, from very young, and it is so wild that this is my son's writing and his world now"

Chillingly good

"4. 5 which I will gladly round up to 5 as trust me this book stays with you for days. I finished it last week but had to let my mind settle before I could do a review. The common refrain seems to be ""What did I just read"" (that's the polite version). I agree. The book is intense, creepy and very atmospsheric. You will be looking over your shoulder, jumping if your phone rings all while you hold your breath. I advise going into this book blind , buckle up and good luck. I highly recommend you read The Caretaker."

Thrillingly terrifying and well written

"I read Marcus’s first book and loved it - the second is just as thrilling and I definitely would recommend"

I enjoyed his first book more

"3. 5 Stars Thank you to Netgalley, Atria Books and Simon & Schuster Audio for letting me listen and enjoy. After loving Marcus’ first book I was so excited to get the opportunity to read his second book. Unfortunately, I didn’t enjoy this one as much. The pacing was good and it held my interest but it was a bit reparative. It was creepy/ scary and I’m glad I didn’t really read it at night or I would have been freaked. The audiobook had dual narration which I always enjoy. I was just missing something which was the why. And open ended endings rarely go well for me. I need all the info always. I don’t know if that’s leaving it open for a second book or not. Our main character Macy was not bright. She couldn’t follow a single rite (rule) if her life depended on it which it friggin did! Her character was struggling with some mental health things but I felt like they maybe weren’t hashed out as well as they could have been. I did enjoy her sister Jemma’s character better. It just didn’t hit the nail on the head for me. I do look forward to seeing what my friends think about it. I would still recommend it to others."
