Reviews

Poor quality

"The paper and print quality of the paperback edition are awful. Recommend going with a different publication."

Matt (1/5)

Amazing

"Picture this: you are nineteen years old with your whole life ahead of you. You've just been offered the job of your dreams. And you're about to marry the person you've loved since childhood. When, suddenly, a couple of jealous men decide to frame you as a Bonapartist (a crime which was punished by death or life imprisonment) and have you sent away to rot in an island prison. I think it's fair to say you'd be feeling a touch bitter about the whole ordeal."

The Count of Monte Cristo review

"Great work detailing a story of revenge. Dumas gives the reader many lessons that can be learned and applied to their own life."

Jordan (5/5)

Terrible edition, not worth the price

"I'm of course giving two stars not to the immortal classic novel by Duma, but to a terrible clothbound edition of this book. The nice print on a cover is already peeling of, and I'm just one third into reading the book! Can't imagine how ugly this poor book will look like when I'm finished with it! Seeing how other people complained about the same problem, it's not just my book's issue. Paper itself is pleasant and well bound, but this edition is not worth its price for sure."

“A piece of perfect storytelling.”—Robert Louis Stevenson
Alexandre Dumas was born in 1802 at Villers-Cotterets in France. He received very little education but when he entered the household of the future king, Louis-Philippe, he began to read voraciously and then to write. He is best remembered for his historical novels, The Count of Monte Cristo and The Three Musketeers. Dumas died in 1870. Robin Buss was a writer and translator who worked for the Independent on Sunday and as television critic for The Times Educational Supplement. He published critical studies of works by Vigny and Cocteau, and three books on European cinema, The French Through Their Films (1988), Italian Films (1989) and French Film Noir (1994). He also translated a number of volumes for Penguin Classics. He died in 2006.
