Courageous

"It took tremendous courage for Lisa to write this book. It is truly engaging & written in a way that keeps you interested to keep reading about her plight. To anyone who has never been in a relationship where you've had to ""walk on eggshells"" I say do not judge/ lest ye be judged. I hope Lisa (you) find that inner peace- you so deserve it! This book is very informative & educational. It will make you think. Thank you for writing it."

Lies

"I can’t believe that this book has even made it to your shelves!! In my opinion, she is the one who supplied GW with ammunition, she too has blood on her hands. Lies, lies, lies!!! Making money off the real survivors and victims of thiss hellish nightmare!!!"

Hope she donates any $ that she makes

"I feel for the families of the victims of the shooting. Yes Lisa was abused but making $ by using the mass shooting as the lure is sad. I hope it has poor sales."

First survivor

"Everyone is going to have their own opinion — and that’s okay. I’m heartbroken for what Lisa had to go through, and my heart also breaks for the families who lost their loved ones. People can be quick to judge, but unless you’ve been in a domestic violence relationship, it’s hard to understand. Leaving isn’t always simple. When you’re in it, you’re in it — and it’s never as easy as people think."

When love isn’t enough

"I read this book in two days, and it unearthed pain and memories. I had long buried. My heart goes out to Lisa. I wish people would stop judging others so quickly unless you walk in someone’s shoes you cannot understand why a person stays with their abuser. Her story is real, it is her truth, and it matters the experiences of so many women who believe that if they love someone enough, they can heal or fix that person‘s brokenness. This book is raw, honest and deeply human."

Shame on them! Disgusting! If

"Shame on them! Disgusting! If I could give a -100 review. . . . I would!!!"

Disgusted S. (1/5)

Captivating & deeply sad

"Once I started reading this book I couldn’t put it down. The account of Lisa’s life with Gabriel, the timeline of the horrific events of the senseless murders, as well as the aftermath were captivating and deeply sad. Brave for Lisa to tell her story. Seems so simple to say - Abusers - get help & stop hurting people, Abused - also try to get help no matter how difficult, listen to your head more than your heart, and get out at all costs. You deserve more. And the rest of us, it’s easy to judge unless you’ve walked in someone else’s shoes. Reading this book should make us all better."

Page Turner - disturbing yet informative

"Very well written - a little repetitive in places; gives more details and background on the killer and survivor relationship; offers great advice to people about intimate partner violence; this book needed to delve deeper into the shortfalls and incompetence of the police — especially the RCMP. The Mass Casualty Commission did not go deep enough into the law to enforcement breakdowns . This must have been therapeutic for the Banfield’s to give their side of the story and the hell they have lived through. Very very brave family!"

Green S. (5/5)

An important and compelling read

"This is an important read for anyone who has ever wondered why women stay in abusive relationships. Although the content is “tough” it is a compelling read."

Toronto L. (5/5)

Another Best-Seller

"The author is already a best-seller and this book is another. It is truly an unflinching look at life with a mass murderer. I had heard so much about it and after reading the First Survivor I was captivated!"
