A go to for personal development

"A go to in my personal development library. Easy to read and apply. I've re-read this several times."

Excellent

"I read this book years ago, and it was really good for me. The content introduces so many great concepts that are truly helpful for balancing our perception of things aiming for a healthier response to ourselves and others. I wanted to reread it because I needed a wholesome reminder about the leadership style that resonates most with me, and I remembered how good this text was. It’s easy to read, such as it’s very conversational in tone (you can almost hear Brene’s voice speaking), and it’s arranged so that you can refer back to it, namely the guideposts, whenever you need to. The most recent edition includes pages to write your own notes, so the book can become your own personal guide if you want it to. It makes a great gift for close friends and family, or can otherwise provide great insight for organizations working to improve professional social connection and morale."

Purposeful

"I read this in 2012. It was a book suggestion from a coworker. They believed in a lot in this authors philosophies and thought I would benefit from the content. I do remember thinking the writing was very simple, it was easy to grasp the concepts, and altogether it was made to be very inclusive and welcoming in tone. This book provided a good introduction to loosening the grip my conscience had on the social pressures of right and wrong to simply accept that to just be yourself is more than enough. I think I completed the book in a day or two. Because the authors topics peaked my interest, I went on to read many of her other books, as well as listen to a couple of them through their audio version. It’s been fifteen years since this title was initially published, and so I am going to give it another read. It will be interesting to observe my interpretation of it now, after some years of maturing, if I will be judgemental this time around. Either way, I do appreciate this author an and researcher. Brene Browns area of expertise has a good quality purpose."

A classic

"I love this updated edition. This is my go to self help book. I have suggested it to many other people."

Kyla (5/5)

Well written, as expected

"If you want to live a more authentic life, this may be a good book for you. That said, it will take time and effort, and an ability to shine the mirror and get real. Not a sit down and read all at once kind of book if you are seeking change."
