"While Patterson is known for his fast-paced storytelling, that style doesn't serve this subject matter well. The treatment of the events feels superficial and rushed, more like a dramatized recap than a thoughtful deep dive. There's a lack of nuance and emotional weight, and it often feels like the book is more interested in sensationalism than sensitivity. Additionally, the characterizations are thin, and the narrative often blurs the line between fact and embellishment in ways that feel uncomfortable, especially considering the real people involved. For such a high-profile and emotionally charged case, the writing deserved more care and substance. This could have been an opportunity to offer insight, compassion, and real investigative depth, but instead, it reads more like a quick cash-in than a meaningful contribution to true crime literature."

Disappointing. Save your money
"I expected more from James Patterson. After reading all the documents that came out after Bryan pleaded guilty, a lot of whats in this book has already been disproven. They should have waited until they got all their facts before writing this."
