Jason Boyd has engaged in a radical examination of his preaching practice, not as mere upskilling but as rigorous and reflective theological inquiry. In doing so he has explored and reframed what it is to do theology in the practice of his preaching and, thereby, contribute to the field of practical theology...What is innovative about this work is how he has brought theological inquiry and action research together, not in an isolated or theoretical way only but in conversation with members of his congregation in the reality of his Sunday preaching. His creation and realisation of the notion of the Word Café is an innovative contribution to both fields.
