Great series

"My 14-year-old daughter absolutely loved it—she was completely drawn into the story from start to finish. The characters were well-developed, and the plot had just the right mix of excitement and depth. After seeing how much she enjoyed it, we decided to order the other two books in the series."

Another generation enjoys Kit Pearson

"Read with my kids and we all loved the characters and learned about a part of history from a different viewpoint. Also interesting to go back and read as an adult because I read the trilogy as a young teen."

Rebecca (5/5)

Good recommendation

"My daughter loved this book and loved that it was set in Toronto"

Sherry (5/5)

Interesting history

"I only skimmed this as it is a gift. A story of children sent to Canada (Toronto) during World War 2. Interesting story about history."

PatW (4/5)

Amazing book

"A book trilogy that has stayed with me since I was a child. Now passing it along to my own kids."

Anonymous (5/5)

Favourite book as a child

"I loved this book as a child. It gave a great historical perspective of what it was like to be a child during the war. Kit Pearson is skilled at writing from a child's point of view."

Leah (5/5)

A flawed but worthy work

"This is an interesting if at times slow story about a girl and her brother who travel to Canada to escape the Battle of Britain. It is an interesting look at how war affects those ""at home. "" It, however, is quite slow and hard to follow at time. It is still worth recommending however."

LOVE

"Was given this series as a child and its what made me fall in love with books! Such a great story about making a new life when all you want is the old one where everything was perfect the way it was."

Lisa (4/5)

Going down memory lane

"I was given this book during my preteens and loved it I remembering reading it front to back multiple times. I kept the book and recently pulled it out of my keepsake boxes and read it once more. As a person who's older and debatably wiser I found this book much different then I remember it's rather dark in it's undertones I suppose that's due to it's storyline during the 2nd world war and knowing now what was going on during this time through studies. Still a great read."

Robyn (4/5)

Named my Daughter Norah Because of This Book!

"I read this book and the two that followed as a kid and instantly fell in love with them. Norah is such a strong, determined protagonist and she obviously left a lasting impact on me as two decades later, I named my first born ""Norah. """

“Reading Kit Pearson’s The Sky is Falling is like running your hand over a piece of cut velvet. This historical novel for children … is rich in color and texture.” - The Ottawa Citizen
Kit Pearson worked as a librarian for many years before publishing her first novel, The Daring Game (1986). She went on to write the linked novels The Sky Is Falling (1989), Looking at the Moon (1991), and The Lights Go On Again (1993), published in 1999 as The Guests of War trilogy, and Awake and Dreaming (1996), which won the Governor General’s Award.
