“Fiercely ambitious, nothing less than a complete unnatural history of vampires.”—The VillageVoice “Brilliant . . . its undead characters are utterly alive.”—The New York Times Book Review “Luxuriantly created and richly told.”—The Cleveland Plain Dealer

Great Sequel
"If you liked Interview With The Vampire's Lestat, then this is the story for you. Meet Lestat again, as a human, and the tale of his rebirth and subsequent rule breaking and mischief, as narrated by the Vampire himself! I could not put this book down, and I don't say this lightly. I was awake for 24 hours reading this. Great book for a lazy weekend."
— Shae (5/5)
My favorite of the first 3 in the VC!
"This was my favorite of the original VC trilogy. This is where Lestat really shines, and his voice and personality really come alive. His backstory is fascinating, and I loved the characters, especially his former lover Nicolas. Their relationship is beautiful. A must-read in the VC series."
— Nate (5/5)

Good, but with flaws
"The writing is a bit clunky, and there are quite a few flaws, but I can't help but enjoy this series."

Fun to read
"If you haven’t read ‘The Vampire Lestat’, please give it a try. You will simply adore this youthful and quirky character who, after a half century of being underground, wakes up in the 1980s to the cacophony of electronic sounds and images that characterizes the MTV generation. He is entranced by the modern world and is eager to become a part of it. The novel moves effortlessly between the late 18th century to the late 1980s as it follows the 200-year-long life of Lestat de Lioncourt, and his rise from humble beginnings as an impoverished aristocrat in the countryside of France to the city of Paris where he becomes a vampire. This is a beautifully written tale by a master storyteller."

Read it in high school
"It took me a while to get into it. I think I got bored halfway before I tried reading it again. But it picked up half way in and gives you insight to Lestat before he meets Louis and continues with his side of the story that Louis told."
— Megha (3/5)
