Doesn’t feel like Grisham of old

"I waited in anticipation of this book as most Grisham followers did. It started out intriguing and somewhere around the mid section it went flat. I’m still not sure why. It became tedious and I barely finished it. Maybe John was tired when he wrote it ."

"From the first sentence to the last this novel was so juicy and compelling. Every chapter ended with a cliffhanger making the pages just keep turning. Through the story you get lots of life and law information along with the the thought provoking character dilemas. I really liked Simon and Landy but there are many interesting colorful characters. This is an excellent law case and one of John Grishams best. I Will eagerly read the next one."

However the build up takes up most of the book and once you’re into the trial and the verdict there isn’t much left to fully explore who the real killer is and how they are caught. Overall it was a fairly enjoyable book but nowhere near as good as his earlier novels."

"This is a very typical John Grisham book where the first two thirds is just setting up the legal story getting the reader entrenched in the characters. Grisham has you feeling for the main character as his plight gets more and more complex. He hits you with the twist when you least expect it"
