Rich Mann grew up in the desert mountains of Arizona where he learned to enjoy and appreciate the beauty and adventure of the wilderness that surrounded his small home town of Ray. Frequent hikes into the mountains and "up the creek" became demanding treks that were sometimes harsh, but enjoyable. He learned a little of the value of the spirit of the western pioneers who a century earlier, had faced survival in the same desert area. Rich trusted in Christ as his Savior while a youngster living in the small mining town. Around his freshmen year of high school, Rich realized the need to follow Christ completely and shun the evils of the world. He went to a Bible college, in Phoenix, AZ, now called Arizona Christian University. There he earned his BS in elementary education in 1973. Since college, Rich's career has been spent mostly teaching young people in Christian schools. The author resides in Phoenix with his wife, Kathy. They enjoy their four adult children and ten grandchildren.
