"An eclectic collection of texts about life and nature's cycles that includes...whimsical poems, anecdotes, dream recollections, and even recipes...easy to read...her honesty is commendable...there is a certain charm to Khia Marin's THIRTEEN LUNATIONS (A Celebration of Time)..."

an Indie reader reviewer

"Marin offers a loosely autobiographical meditation on space, time, and other subjects.

...In this work, Marin details a more moon-centered...calendar...there are nine days in a week... In the pages that follow, the author...presents a smorgasbord of other material concerning seasons, traditions, and the solar system. There are also personal reflections, such as notes on a trip the author took to Glastonbury...Both astronomy and astrology are given great attention... This wide breadth of material sets the book apart from, well, most books...Yet some points prove to be perplexing-Marin's account of her trip to Glastonbury can be confusing. A number of topics... are thrown at the reader in rapid succession; these passages may require re-reading to fully grasp what the author is conveying. Yet taken altogether, the many small pieces of the work add up to a unique and engaging whole.

A cheerfully personal, if occasionally obscure, perspective on the complexities of Earth and beyond."

A Kirkus Indie reviewer

"Rethinking and reimagining the calendar is a daunting task but can be rewarding when it flows more freely with one's beliefs about time and the rhythms of life. This wildly wondrous exploration of time is rooted in ancient customs and traditions that invoke astronomy, astrology, and mythology...informed by ancient days and peoples and the old ways of viewing the world through metaphors, poetry, stories, and myth. The result is a fascinating compilation of ancient wisdom - and modern application of that wisdom - to clock the earth's journey around the sun...Marin...seeks a new awareness...of the history associated with the traditional calendar as a way to move forward into other possibilities. The result is rich with complexity and warmth as Marin tells personal stories and recounts history with accessibility and nimble prose..."

A compelling and intriguing collage that challenges the limits of reality and conventions of timekeeping and authorship.

The "lunations" in this book are a collection of written works curated and created by the author... a collage of dreams, visions, stories, recipes, poems, mythology, and bits of history...structured so that each section shows a page from that calendar... When I started reading it, I felt lost and had to return to the earlier sections...However, that was not a deterrent because I was intrigued by this collage...I somewhat enjoyed this disorientation, confident that my subconscious understood it and that my conscious mind would catch up, which it did.

The author uses Wikipedia...for information, which makes me a bit cautious...but additional research on my part can rectify any credibility issues that might pose...I delighted in and appreciated this unconventional read and enjoyed the departure from the limited reality society imposes upon us. Those who prefer more conventional narratives, might not appreciate it. The book sets out to disorient and reorient our concept of days, months, years, and authorship into something more harmonious with the rhythms of nature. I found it an enjoyable and enriching blend of ideas that defied categorization and welcomed me into an intriguing world.
