Dr. Artika Tyner is a passionate educator, award-winning author, sought-after speaker, and advocate for justice. She is committed to helping students create new inroads to justice and freedom. Dr. Tyner manages Planting People Growing Justice Press and Bookstore, which promotes literacy, cultural awareness, and leadership development. She is a civil rights lawyer and law professor at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Jill Braithwaite lives in Minneapolis and is an editor, writer, and religious professional. Jill has worked on all kinds of books (don't tell anyone, but picture books are her favorite) and in many aspects of book publishing, including editorial, product development, and marketing. Jill loves art, tennis, movies, and walking her small dog.

Jestenia Southerland aims to portray a sense of whimsy through bright colors, graphic shapes, and charming characters. She loves stories that trigger the imagination, and the potential of passing that feeling onto others is what drives her as an illustrator. When she’s not drawing, she loves spending time with her two dogs, Kojack and Katia.
