Albert Rèche was a roving reporter before joining the Figaro newspaper as one of its permanent special correspondents. On retirement, he devoted his time to the history of the city in which he was born and to the everyday life of its people. He is a member of the Académie nationale des sciences, belles-lettres et arts de Bordeaux and, in 1989, he was awarded one of Bordeaux' major literary prizes, the Grand Prix littéraire, for his work.

Philippe Prévôt is Heritage Manager with the City of Bordeaux' Tourist Office. He has published numerous articles on the history of regional art.
