Just wow. . .

"5 Stars. Utterly 5 damn stars. The story is dark so don't come in thinking its a little bit. This book will rip your heart out, play basketball with it and ping pong it in and out of your chest on repeat. But god, it is sooooo good. We pick up where Stacey is on the plane heading back to Scotland after being ripped away from her first love again. While she knows some of what haunts and tortures Kade there is so much more that she doesn't. Left alone under the protection of his men, Stacey has to go back home which is her own personal hell. Her Step brother Chris waits for her and that man is deranged in a way that made me want to kick him in the throat. It wasn't hot or sexy. But here is revealed just how devastating of a past that Stacey has truly survived and the losses experienced. One thing is clear - Kade is gone, Chris is there and her hell couldn't possibly get any worse, right? Wrong. For her; for him. . . . hell stays in the mind and tortures the body while devouring the soul. We are held to read through Kade being tortured, ra p ed, blackmailed, abused, manipulated, controlled and forced into heavy drug use all because he dared step away from his tormentors and try to take a piece of happiness for himself. He had tried so hard to hide Stacey from them but their slip in the first book shone a light on her that the tormentors refused to look away from. She was a liability to him and that simply would not do. We see his captors take his friend and both Base and Kade disappear. Under threat, Stacey moves into hiding under a new identity and forms a deeper bond and family connection with Tobias. But Hiding could only work for so long and the collision of evil could never be oppressed. Chris sweeps in like the devil trying to be a hero and rescues her just in time but in doing so steals her away back into her guilded cage. So much happens in this book and if you are looking for heavy spice you won't find it. There is some but not like book #1. Chris rescues her but tosses her in the bowels of hell under the false thought that he was going to save her. But he underestimated Kades tormentors because they were most definitely the most sinister beings in that fight and what turned into a moment where Stacey was supposed to deliver a USB ended up being an auction of people. The author shows us darkness and we pay attention as Stacey feels desperation to escape; need for Kade to rescue her but no one comes. RUN to BOOK 3"
