Light poetry

"Thank you to Andrews McMeel for sending me a copy of this book to read and enjoy. I was drawn to this book because of the cover and then was hesitant because its a book of poems and I'm not the greatest with them, but i really enjoyed this read. I was surprised that this poetry was like reading a story and I didn't have to try and interpret the meaning. I enjoyed that it was a love story, or so it seemed to me. I haven't decided if the guy was toxic or not or if he was actually a good person. It just goes to show that first loves leave an impression not matter good or bad. I would like to check iut some of Tank’s slam poetry videos. I would recommend this read to others because it was “easier” poetry."

Seen and understood

"Sometimes a book finds you right when you need it. This book was hidden behind another book on the shelf. Saw something orange right when I was about to walk away from the section and stopped to take a closer look. I dug it out and immediately fell for the cover and the title. On a day where I felt so emotional, so vulnerable, so empty, this book felt like it was a gift, my gift, it was hiding and patiently waiting for me to find it. I read a few pages and the words and her stories were what I needed at that moment. I closed it and rushed to the cash, irrationally fearing that if I didn't buy it right away it was going to be taken away from me somehow. Once the book was mine and safely tucked inside of my winter jacket, I walked straight to the cineplex, bought a bag of popcorn and went right back to my car to eat the popcorn and read the book. Her words and stories are so relatable. Love, heartbreaks, giving yourself to the wrong people. Hoping, dreaming, wanting, desiring. Falling, failing, healing. This book was my gift in a moment of sadness and emptiness. It filled me with the beauty of her words and the validation of shared experiences. There is something so riveting about finding yourself in the pages of a book a total stranger wrote. This book found me right when I needed it, to make me feel seen and understood."
