"David Garrick was my longest and closest friend, my comrade in ecological campaigns for over half a century, yet there are details of his life in this book "Walrus" that even I was unaware of until after reading Catherine Gilbert's excellent chronicling of his extraordinary and exemplary life." -Captain Paul Watson, Whale Wars

"To anyone picking up this book, know that it is a treasure, not just the story of the life of one amazing man- but a critical historical record of the origins of the British Columbian, Canadian and even the planetary and global environmental movement." –Elizabeth May, O.C., Member of Parliament, Saanich Gulf Islands and Leader of the Green Party of Canada
